AMBA Annual Conference 2026

The Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association (AMBA) Annual Conference is the premier event for mortgage professionals operating in Alberta. Held each spring, the conference alternates between Calgary and Edmonton and draws approximately 400-500 attendees including mortgage brokers, associate brokers, lenders, and vendors.

AMBA represents Alberta's mortgage brokering community and serves as the key liaison between brokers and the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA), which regulates mortgage brokers in the province. Staying current with RECA requirements — which include specific continuing education obligations and conduct standards — is a priority for every Alberta broker, and the annual conference typically features a RECA representative as a keynote or session speaker.

Alberta's mortgage market has distinctive characteristics that make province-specific education valuable. The province has significant oil and gas sector employment, creating income volatility that lenders treat differently than salaried employment elsewhere in Canada. Rural properties, acreages, and agricultural land financing are more common. The province also has no land transfer tax, which affects how brokers advise clients comparing costs between provinces.

Conference programming covers these Alberta-specific topics alongside national trends: rate forecasts, lender product updates, new technology tools for brokers, and marketing strategies for broker businesses. The lender pavilion typically features 20-30 booths.

The conference evening includes an awards dinner recognizing Alberta's Top Brokers, Top Brokerage, and Industry Builder of the Year. These awards are voted on by AMBA members in the weeks prior to the event.

Continuing education credits for RECA compliance are awarded for most conference sessions. Early registration is available through the AMBA website starting in February.
