900+ brokers, lenders, and industry partners

The Canadian Mortgage Awards (CMA) is the premier recognition event for Canada's residential mortgage industry. Organized by Canadian Mortgage Professional (CMP) magazine — the country's most widely read mortgage trade publication — the awards gala has been running for over 20 years and is widely considered the Oscars of the Canadian mortgage world.

The 2026 edition takes place at the Liberty Grand in Toronto, a venue that has hosted the event for several years running. Over 900 mortgage professionals attend, including independent brokers, agents, brokerage owners, monoline lenders, bank mortgage specialists, and industry vendors.

Categories span individual broker performance (Top Broker by Volume, Top Broker by Deals Funded, Newcomer of the Year), brokerage excellence (Top Brokerage, Best Employer), lender recognition (Lender of the Year — Bank, Lender of the Year — Non-Bank, Best Broker Programs), and specialty categories including Residential Brokerage of the Year, Commercial Broker of the Year, and Community Leadership Award.

The nomination and voting process opens in early January and involves both peer nominations and a public vote. Shortlists are typically announced in March, with final winners revealed at the gala.

For mortgage brokers across Canada, an award or even a shortlist nomination carries significant marketing value. Firms prominently feature CMA recognition on their websites, email signatures, and LinkedIn profiles throughout the year. The event also draws significant networking: most major lender BDMs, regional directors, and national account managers attend, making the evening one of the most efficient industry networking opportunities of the year.

Tickets typically go on sale in January through the CMP magazine website. Tables sell out quickly; early booking is recommended. A single ticket runs approximately $250-$350; corporate tables (10 seats) are available for $2,500-$4,000.
